Oxfordshire has so many beautiful wedding venues. Oxford University alum James and Mary-Catherine celebrated their Oxford wedding in New College.
Having had their official ceremony in Mary-Catherine’s home town the year before, this was their opportunity to celebrate with James’ family and university friends.
I always think there’s something very chic about a groom in black tie, and it was the perfect outfit for the historic halls of Oxford. Singers from the college choir welcomed Mary-Catherine to the ceremony, which was followed by their drinks reception in the courtyard. Champagne flowed as they caught up with friends and celebrated.
If you’ve read many of my other posts or follow me on Instagram, you’ll know that I love discovering the personal touches couples include in their wedding celebrations. For Mary-Catherine and James, that tradition was a bottle of bourbon buried in the grounds. Mary-Catherine explained the Southern tradition of burying bourbon ahead of your wedding day to ward of rain, and not a drop of rain interrupted the day. After a little searching (it had been buried rather late at night!) the bourbon was uncovered and enjoyed in the grounds. An added bonus of this tradition was it gave them a few moments together to celebrate with each other – something that’s always so worth building into your wedding day timeline.
If like Mary-Catherine and James you’re keen to set some time aside for the two of you but aren’t sure when, get in touch and we can have a chat through your timeline.
After sharing their whisky, they returned to their guests for an evening of celebrations, before heading off to Monte Carlo for their European honeymoon.
