Most years, I have the privilege of capturing a handful of surprise proposals and engagement sessions, and they are always such a joy.
Joshua’s proposal to Haley was no different. Joshua got in touch to share his plans with me a few weeks before he and Haley flew to London for their holiday. He knew he wanted to propose in St. James’s Park, so it was a matter of choosing the perfect spot. We chatted about a few possible locations, and settled on one by lake that I knew would be relatively quiet first thing in the morning.
When the day arrived, it was a beautiful summer’s morning – perfect for the “leisurely coffee in the park” Joshua had suggested he and Haley had. As I arrived and found a spot on a bench where Joshua would be proposing, I got a message confirming they were just leaving the hotel, together with a subtle selfie so I knew what they would be wearing.
The proposal itself was a beautiful moment, and Joshua had planned the perfect surprise for Haley, with a family heirloom as her engagement ring. After giving them some time to celebrate together, we took a short stroll around St. James’s Park to capture more portraits together, before Joshua and Haley waited for friends and family across the pond to wake up so they could share the news with them!
